7 Health Benefits of Antioxidants

Eliminate cancer, stop again and feel great.

Over recent years, the benefits of antioxidants have been closely studied by scientists all over the world. Fruits and vegetables have been found to have immense power when it comes to keeping the body healthy and free of disease.

An antioxidant is a nutrient which stops or slows down oxidation. Unfortunately, oxidation can and does occur in our bodies and leads to cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and many other terrible diseases. The oxidation process (caused by many things including junk food, smoke, even oxygen) in turn causes aging and eventually leads to death.

With this in mind, it’s reasonable to say that if you consume more antioxidants you will slow the aging process, ward off cancer and defend yourself from disease. See the benefits of juicing for more information about how juicing gives you lots of antioxidants.

When it comes to the benefits of antioxidants and the scientific studies that explain them, I would need a number of textbooks to fit everything in. So instead, let’s take a broad look at the benefits of antioxidants and get a “big picture” view.

1. Eliminate cancer.

Cancerous growth is oxidation gone wild. When the oxidation process is left unchecked, diseases (such as cancer) thrive and grow. By increasing your intake of antioxidants, you can neutralize cancer and in some cases even reverse it. This is why juicing for cancer works.

2. Avoid the flu.

Every year winter rolls around and numerous people come down with colds, flues and viruses. Most of them are harmless and at their worst keep the victim in bed for a few days. But imagine if you didn’t have to worry about the flu anymore. Get enough antioxidants into your system and that will become your reality.

3. Enhance circulation.

Here’s another of the benefits of antioxidants that’s great. Increase your intake and you’ll enhance your circulation. This will in turn supply your body with more oxygen as blood pumps around your body more freely. Your skin will start to glow and the aging process will slow down.

4. Keep your blood vessels shining.

I don’t really think blood vessels “shine” as such but I’m sure you get my point. With more fruits and vegetables in your diet, your blood vessels will transport blood around your body easier and be less prone to blockages. This then lowers your risk of heart related diseases such as heart disease, stroke and more.

5. Look younger for longer.

If the first 4 benefits didn’t interest you (yeah right!), then this one sure will. The aging process is due to the oxidation inside your body. As your skin wrinkles, eyelids droop and skin dries out, there is an inevitable process of oxidation going on inside your body.

Think of what happens to metal over a long period of time. It rusts. That is the equivalent of the oxidation process that happens inside your body.

While antioxidants aren’t going to stop you from dying, they will slow down and even halt the aging process. If you want to look younger for longer, get more antioxidants. Of all the benefits of antioxidants, this is probably the most popular.

6. Promote eye health.

Don’t give up your vision for unhealthy food. Rather, use the benefits of antioxidants to prevent eye related disorders like macular degeneration and glaucoma.

7. Feel AMAZING!

The oxidation process is to a very large degree responsible for disease. By increasing your antioxidant intake, you target the oxidation process as a whole, not a specific disease.

This means that when you increase your fruits and vegetables, not only will you be getting sick less (if at all), you’ll be feeling amazing. The effect on my state of mind that my diet has still blows me away.

Juicing – The fastest way to enjoy the benefits of antioxidants.

Juicing gives you the power to create your own antioxidant cocktail. Perhaps you feel like mixing the benefits of carrot juice with the health benefits of beetroot. Or perhaps the benefits of cabbage.

The options are endless. Make sure you drink your juice immediately after making it. For ideas, check out our Juicing Recipes.
